The 26th Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival Held

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will hold the "26th Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival" with the theme of THE SUNSHINE from October 8 to 10.

Considering the COVID-19 situation, the festival will be held mainly online. Using light exhibitions and online content through YouTube, it aims to deliver messages of comfort and hope to residents weary from the prolonged pandemic.

The 26th Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival will be easily accessible online starting October 8. Beginning at 7 PM on the 8th, the festival opens with director Jang Hang-jun's "Prehistoric Talk," a film discussing the historical significance and value of the Seoul Amsa-dong archaeological site. This will be followed by "Prehistoric Person Interview," where actor Kwon Hyuk-soo acts as a reporter exploring various aspects of the festival, and "Gangdong Sketch," a YouTube dance team ART BEAT's tour of various locations in Gangdong-gu.

On the second day, October 9, the prehistoric parade, which was previously held on the streets, has been moved online and newly prepared. The "Prehistoric Front Row Parade" compiles videos from a contest held for the 18 neighborhoods of Gangdong-gu and the general public, along with planned videos, allowing viewers to safely and comfortably enjoy the parade online.

"If Bitsal Money Rained from the Sky" is a collaboration among popular YouTubers "Mariya and Friends," "Sanghaegi," "Jang Yeon-woo," and "Jo Hwa-young," enabling indirect experience of various Gangdong cultures using the local currency "Bitsal Money."

Additionally, at the "Prehistoric Person Studio," attendees can listen to distinguished lectures by Professors Kim Chang-ok and Kim Kyung-il, and enjoy Gangdong ASMR featuring the scenery and sounds of Gangdong.

On the final day, October 10, at 7 PM, the "Prehistoric Person Concert" will be broadcast live, featuring congratulatory videos, skits, celebratory stages, and a drone show. The event will be hosted by "Pisik University" and "Hansarang Mountaineering Club," who bring much laughter online. Celebratory singers Lee Mujin, Kim Jung-min, and Hong Ji-yoon will deliver lively performances that can be enjoyed from home. The drone show with storytelling and the contest video "To My Gangdong," produced by Gangdong residents, will convey messages of hope.

From October 8 to 31, the light exhibition "A RAY OF SUNSHINE," which shares warmth with neighbors, will be held in Gangdong-gu, composed of "Prehistoric Person Street," "Prehistoric Person Garden," and "Prehistoric Person Wish Lanterns," offering a dazzling autumn night with diverse hanji lanterns and sculptures.

"Prehistoric Person Street" will create special streets by neighborhood from Cheonho Intersection to Prehistoric Intersection in Gangdong-gu, exhibiting pit-house lanterns made by residents and eco-friendly solar-powered wish lanterns. "Prehistoric Person Garden" will be filled with digital lighting art by artist Lim Young-taek, who served as artistic director of the 2020 National Theater 70th Anniversary Light Festival "Journey of Light," at the outdoor stage of Amsa History Park.

"Prehistoric Person Wish Lanterns" will light the hope fire with wish cards from residents and Bitsal Patterned Pottery lanterns made together by residents around the Seoul Amsa-dong archaeological site.

Details on program schedules and the festival timetable can be found on the 26th Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival website and the Gangdong-gu Office website, and will be available through the Gangdong-gu Office YouTube channel.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "Marking the 26th year of the Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival, we have prepared various programs to safely participate mainly online due to COVID-19. We hope residents weary from the prolonged pandemic will find healing through this festival, and we ask for your great interest and participation."
