[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 5th that it will introduce a public bicycle system in Namak and Oryong New Towns to promote bicycle use.
The county plans to complete the basic and detailed design services for the public bicycle system by the end of this year, build the system in the first half of next year, conduct a pilot operation, and then start official operation.
About 10 rental stations are expected to be installed centered around the Jeonnam Provincial Office, and once the public bicycle system is introduced, it is expected that not only residents of the new towns but also tourists from other areas will be able to use bicycles at an affordable price.
Governor Kim San said, “We will also separately subscribe to public bicycle insurance so that anyone can use bicycles safely and comfortably,” adding, “We will build a user-centered rental system and work hard to maintain and expand infrastructure to create an environment conducive to cycling.”
