[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has secured 700 million KRW in national funds for design service fees for new rural village sewerage maintenance projects in 2022.

According to the county on the 5th, Haenam-gun will carry out rural village sewerage maintenance projects in Donghyeon District, Songji-myeon, and Yerak District, Munnae-myeon, and new sewer pipe maintenance projects in Hwawon-myeon Hwabong District (Hwabong, Chodong, Inji, Jangsu) and Munnae-myeon Nandae District.

With a total project cost of 13.7 billion KRW, by 2024, public sewage treatment plants and sewer pipes will be installed in Donghyeon District, Songji-myeon, and Yerak District, Munnae-myeon, and sewer pipes will be maintained in Hwawon-myeon Hwabong District and Munnae-myeon Nandae District.

Upon completion, it is expected that about 420 households and over 1,000 residents will benefit.

In particular, the sewer pipe maintenance project in Hwawon Hwabong District will be carried out in connection with the confirmed installation of a public sewage treatment plant within the Osiano tourist complex, which has been the biggest obstacle to revitalizing the tourist complex. The purification treatment of domestic sewage generated in the district is also expected to play a significant role in preserving the water quality of the surrounding marine areas of the tourist complex.

Additionally, the county plans to accelerate efforts to complete 14 sewerage maintenance projects, including the ongoing expansion of the Haenam-eup public sewage treatment plant, within the planned period to improve the water quality of public waters and create a pleasant residential environment, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of life for rural residents.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “We will do our best to ensure that the ongoing projects are completed on time,” and added, “Since these projects will be carried out over several years, we ask for the active cooperation of the residents.”
