[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoo Seung-min, a presidential candidate from the People Power Party, promised on the 5th to abolish the ‘Gender Equality Employment Quota System’ in civil service exams.

On the same day, Yoo stated through social media (SNS) and other channels, "I will abolish the gender quota system," pledging to "abolish the Gender Equality Employment Quota System for the 5th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade civil service recruitment exams."

He added, "I will gradually abolish gender quotas in politics, police, and other areas where there is no justifiable reason for their existence."

He also expressed his intention to create a structure where the duty of national defense is shared jointly without gender discrimination.

Yoo said, "I will build a society where the duty of national defense is shared jointly without gender discrimination," and continued, "Given the decrease in military service resources due to demographic changes and changes in the nature of warfare, the necessity of a female conscription system is also being discussed. Therefore, I will establish a ‘Military Service Structure Reform Public Deliberation Committee’ to create a military service system that is not biased toward either side." Regarding the joint sharing of national defense duties by men and women, he promised, "I will introduce a military service bonus point system to ensure fair treatment without discrimination against any specific gender."

Additionally, he stated, "I will create a fair country where ‘the same standards’ apply to the same work," and added, "In cases where physical requirements are essential for public protection, such as police officers, recruitment will be based on the principle of ‘same work, same standards.’"

Yoo also pledged, "While strengthening punishment for sexual crimes, I will eliminate discrimination that views men as potential perpetrators," and said, "Since there is criticism of ‘presumption of guilt in sexual crime trials,’ I will abolish the guidelines for deferring investigations of false accusations to prevent innocent people from being stigmatized as sexual offenders."
