[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province began accepting applications for the 3rd Disaster Basic Income from residents excluded from the government's co-prosperity national support fund payment target starting from the 1st, and the application rate surpassed 50% within four days.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 5th that from 9 a.m. on the 1st to 10 p.m. on the 4th, 1,262,272 Gyeonggi residents applied for the 3rd Gyeonggi Disaster Basic Income. This corresponds to 50.1% of the 2,520,598 eligible residents.
By application type, 211,104 people applied for the disaster basic income using Gyeonggi local currency, and 1,051,168 applied using credit or debit cards.
By city and county, Suwon-si had the highest number of applicants with 156,713 people, followed by Yongin-si with 153,643, Goyang-si with 105,253, and Seongnam-si with 135,796.
The application rate compared to the eligible population was highest in Hwaseong-si at 59.1%, followed by Suwon-si at 59.0%, Yongin-si at 52.6%, and Osan-si at 52.3%.
The province applied an odd-even system based on the last digit of the birth year for online applications during the four days starting on the 1st. Accordingly, residents with an odd last digit in their birth year applied on the 1st and 3rd, while those with an even last digit applied on the 2nd and 4th.
