"Stepwise Implementation by Design Development Industry Sector"
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation's Hanbok Promotion Center announced on the 5th that the National Hangeul Museum has participated as the first institution to adopt the pilot project of the 'Hanbok Workwear Distribution' this year. Since the 4th, guides and exhibition narrators at the National Hangeul Museum have been welcoming visitors wearing Hanbok workwear. There are eight types, including jackets utilizing rice cake stamp patterns and traditional collars, and blouses with collar tips shaped like beoseon (traditional Korean socks). Among the sixty-four designs developed collaboratively by five Hanbok designers, including lead designer Shin Jang-kyung, selections were made based on feedback from the museum staff. A Ministry of Culture official stated, "Including the National Hangeul Museum, ten institutions have expressed their intention to introduce Hanbok workwear," adding, "We will proceed with phased implementation by industry sector to expand the daily use of Hanbok to various workplaces through design development."
