Jungjingong Opens '2021 Shinbukbang Business Week'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced that it will hold the '2021 New Northern Business Week' at the Mapo Garden Hotel in Seoul from the 5th to the 8th.

The Far East region is improving its investment environment due to the Russian government's New Eastern policy, and with the Korean government's focus on the New Northern policy, expectations are rising for domestic companies to enter the local market.

Starting with an economic cooperation conference for entering the Russian Far East region on the 5th, a three-day business consultation meeting between Korean and New Northern companies will be held, and on the 7th and 8th, online market entry seminars for Russia and Kazakhstan will take place.

At this economic cooperation conference, representatives such as Alexander Masalsev from the Russian Trade Representation in Korea and Taras Maksim, Minister of Corporate Support and Investment Development of Khabarovsk Territory, will introduce strategies and support plans for Korean companies to enter the Far East region.

Additionally, a Korea-Far East promising companies pitching event involving domestic startups and Russian companies will be held. REMI, a major distribution company in the Primorsky region, will also participate in the presentation, making it especially noteworthy for 'K-consumer goods' companies.

On the 7th, a seminar on entering the Russian online market will be held. Sergey Karaganov, Dean of the School of World Political Economy at the Higher School of Economics (HSE), a cooperating institution of SBC, will present an overview of the Russian economy after the global pandemic, and Maya Marenko, Director at Ozon (OZON), a leading Russian online shopping mall, will introduce how to utilize Russian online platforms focusing on the Ozon case.

On the 8th, SBC's Almaty Export Incubator (BI) will introduce the Kazakhstan online market and explain how to enter well-known local online market platforms. A lecture on the current status of Kazakhstan logistics and countermeasures will also follow.

Thirty domestic companies will participate in the Korea-New Northern companies B2B business consultation meeting. They will discuss cooperation plans such as export, technology partnerships, and joint investments with local companies in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Chairman Kim Hak-do said, "New Northern and e-commerce are hot keywords for companies, and the core goal of this event is to provide insights for entering the New Northern e-commerce markets such as Russia and Kazakhstan," adding, "I hope this New Northern Business Week will expand cooperation between Korea and the New Northern region and further promote investment by small and medium ventures and entry into local markets."
