[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] It has been alleged that 400 active-duty officers violated the Military Criminal Act by participating in the presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol's former Prosecutor General's People's Camp.

Seol Hoon, a member of the National Defense Committee of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out in a press release distributed ahead of the Ministry of National Defense's audit on the 5th, "Among the interviewees for defense policy and pledges publicly announced by the 'Yoon Seok-yeol People's Camp' on September 25, there were over 400 active-duty soldiers, policy committee members of the Defense Science Research Institute, and researchers affiliated with the Korea Defense Research Institute included in the policy advisory group," and added, "An investigation should be conducted into the violation of Article 94 (Political Involvement) of the Military Criminal Act, and strict measures must be taken."

The People Power Party's presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol's People's Camp disclosed the list of 48 interviewees involved in the design after plagiarism controversies arose over defense pledges such as "granting 5 additional points for housing subscription to military service members" on the 25th of last month. At that time, the units of active-duty soldiers were also revealed.

Seol said, "More than 400 active-duty soldiers participated in the open chat room, and they belong to units such as the 53rd Division, 66th Division, 1st Division, and 7th Division of the Army, with many field-grade officers," and emphasized, "It is necessary to investigate who opened the open chat room, how active-duty soldiers participated, and what roles they played."

Seol also stated, "In Yoon Seok-yeol's camp, policy committee members of the Defense Science Research Institute (retired generals) and researchers from the Korea Defense Research Institute are active, violating all internal regulations prohibiting political activities." It is known that the policy committee members of the Defense Science Research Institute participating in Yoon's camp receive about 3.3 million won per month as allowances.

Seol concluded, "A thorough investigation into the circumstances and facts related to the activities of active-duty soldiers involved in Yoon Seok-yeol's camp should be conducted, and strict measures must be taken."
