[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] As the COVID-19 vaccination completion rate exceeded 50% of the total population, about 3,400 people received their first dose and about 33,000 people completed their vaccination on the 3rd.

According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) on the 4th, the number of new first-dose vaccinations the previous day was 3,404, and the number of completed vaccinations was 33,187.

The total number of new first and second doses administered in one day was 36,591. The number of vaccinations decreased from about 1.09 million on Friday, the 1st, to about 530,000 on the 2nd, and further dropped significantly to about 36,000 the previous day. This was due to some entrusted medical institutions and vaccination centers being closed or operating on reduced hours during the weekend and holidays.

The number of new first-dose vaccinations by vaccine type was 2,548 for Moderna, 765 for Pfizer, 80 for Janssen, and 11 for AstraZeneca (AZ).

As of midnight on the day, the cumulative number of first-dose vaccinations in Korea was 39,714,000, which corresponds to 77.3% of the total population (51,349,116 as of December last year). The first-dose vaccination rate among the population aged 18 and over is 89.9%. Looking at the cumulative first-dose vaccinations by vaccine, Pfizer accounts for 21,195,087, AstraZeneca 11,092,334, and Moderna 5,979,026. The cumulative number of Janssen vaccine recipients is 1,447,553. People who received the Janssen vaccine, which requires only one dose, are included in both the first and second dose counts.

Among the 33,187 people who newly completed their second dose the previous day, the breakdown by vaccine is 24,878 for Pfizer, 8,121 for Moderna, and 108 for AstraZeneca. Although 412 people were counted as having completed AstraZeneca vaccination, 304 of them received the AstraZeneca vaccine for their first dose and crossed over to Pfizer for their second dose.

Thus, the total number of people who have completed both doses reached 27,016,188. This corresponds to 52.6% of the population and 61.2% based on the population aged 18 and over.

The cumulative number of completed vaccinations by vaccine is 12,822,004 for Pfizer, 10,437,266 for AstraZeneca (including 1,637,088 cross-vaccinations), and 2,309,365 for Moderna, with the remainder being Janssen recipients.
