[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Lee Nak-yeon, former leader of the Democratic Party and a presidential candidate, mentioned Yoon Seok-yeol, former Prosecutor General, and Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, highlighting 'experience' as his strength.
On the afternoon of the 3rd, Lee appeared as the final guest in the special episode featuring the top three presidential candidates on SBS entertainment program 'Master in the House.'
On that day, Lee referred to Yoon, the presidential candidate from the People Power Party, as "someone who has given a significant challenge to me and the Moon Jae-in administration," adding, "He has presented the major task of prosecutorial reform." Regarding Governor Lee, he said, "He has given the future challenge of basic income."
When asked what he would like to take from Yoon and Lee, Lee replied, "I want to take Yoon Seok-yeol's roughness. I want to have a bit more of that roughness. Sometimes roughness is necessary," and added, "From Lee Jae-myung, I want to take his quick wit."
Meanwhile, he cited 'experience' as his strength, emphasizing, "I have much more experience than Governor Lee or candidate Yoon. I have experience in government and the National Assembly, central and local governments, domestic affairs and diplomacy, and even the military." He then smiled and added, "If I may add one more thing, I am much better at humor."
Lee also confessed that he is emotionally affected by fluctuations in approval ratings. He said, "I don't show it outwardly, but I suffer inside. When things are really bad, I consult my wife. I also watch my mood carefully so that my aides don't lose morale."
Furthermore, when asked if he is the '20th president,' he shouted "Yes." He stressed, "I am the closest to the qualities needed in a leader for South Korea. South Korea was classified as a developed country this year. Now we must solve the challenges of being a developed country. We need seasoned leadership. Since 80% of Korea's economy depends on trade, diplomacy is essential for the economy, and I am the only one who has diplomatic experience."
Finally, Lee promised that if he becomes president, he will never say anything that hurts the people. He confidently stated, "I will not make reckless remarks or outrageous slanders that would cause people to question my character. There will be no moments where people say, 'Is this really the face of our country?' or 'I am disappointed.'"
