[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] The head instructor of a Taekwondo dojang in Busan, who was assaulted by a drunk person in front of students, revealed that he received letters of support from the students.

On the 1st, a post titled "I am the Taekwondo dojang head instructor who was assaulted. Thank you so much for the great interest and love" was uploaded on an online community board. The writer expressed, "Since the assault incident, both my body and mind have been extremely exhausted," and added, "To the lovely children, parents, and acquaintances, I say I am okay and unaffected, enduring each day."

The writer continued, "I couldn't sleep all night," explaining, "Anxiety, fear, and self-loathing overwhelmed me, and I stayed awake the entire day." He also stated, "I sustained facial injuries during the assault and am receiving treatment at a plastic surgery clinic," adding, "I underwent a CT scan on my head, which was the most severely impacted area, and received a diagnosis that aside from bruising from the trauma, there were no major abnormalities."

The writer explained, "To prepare the incident statement, I coordinated with the detective and went to the police station around 10 p.m. after finishing Taekwondo classes, riding the dojang's vehicle," and said, "I visited the detective division, met the detective in charge, and spent about two hours writing the statement." He added, "I asked the detective to do his best to ensure the perpetrator receives strict legal punishment," attaching several photos containing letters left by the Taekwondo students.

Previously, on the afternoon of the 29th of last month, the writer was assaulted by a drunk man near a vehicle parked in front of the Taekwondo dojang building in Busan. Students returning home from the dojang were inside the car, and according to police investigation, the man assaulted the writer because he disliked his appearance.

However, the writer stated that although the man unilaterally provoked him and struck his face multiple times with his fists, he did not retaliate. Through the post on the online community, the writer recalled, "I was angry because I thought a Taekwondo dojang head instructor shouldn't hit people, but I bit my lip and endured it," and added, "My heart aches thinking of the children who tearfully asked why our instructor didn't hit back."
