Foreigners, Hospital, and Family Infections Continue... 25 Confirmed Cases in Gwangju on October 1st

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 2nd, 25 people in the Gwangju area were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in one day, classified as Gwangju cases 5018 to 5042.

There were 4 confirmed cases related to foreigner testing in Gwangsan-gu, 1 related to an administrative order at a job placement agency, 5 related to a medical institution in Dong-gu, 7 related to previously confirmed cases, 5 related to confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, and 3 symptomatic cases under investigation.

The confirmed cases related to foreigner testing in Gwangsan-gu were mostly foreigners, with nationalities including Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan.

In a large hospital in Dong-gu, 5 additional infections including inpatients were confirmed, increasing the total to 11. The chain infection related to this medical institution is spreading sporadically after one caregiver showed suspicious symptoms such as fever and headache and was confirmed positive.

Seven people, including family and acquaintances of previously confirmed cases with unknown infection routes, were infected in a chain, prompting health authorities to conduct epidemiological investigations. Five local residents who had contact with confirmed cases from other regions were also infected and transferred to isolation beds.
