[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The White House in the United States announced that it made concrete proposals for dialogue with North Korea but has not received a response.
Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, said at a regular briefing on the 1st (local time), "We made concrete proposals for discussions with North Korea, but so far there has been no response," adding, "We are ready to discuss issues across the full spectrum."
She also emphasized that the U.S. has actively worked on engagement with North Korea.
A day earlier, The Washington Post also reported, citing senior officials, that specific proposals were made to North Korea but no reply was received from the North.
The Joe Biden administration has been attempting contact by demanding unconditional talks with North Korea after completing its North Korea policy review in April, but has not achieved results.
Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, in his policy speech at the Supreme People's Assembly on the 29th of last month, spoke positively about improving relations with the South Korean government but criticized the U.S., saying, "The U.S. military threat and hostile policy have not changed at all. Rather, their forms of expression and methods have become more cunning."
