Hyundai Motor Group Opens Electric Vehicle Charging Station 'Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet E-pit'

Hyundai Motor Group Opens Electric Vehicle Charging Station 'Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet E-pit' Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 1st that it will begin operating the E-pit ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station at Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo.


[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 1st that it has started operating the ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station 'E-pit' at Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo.


The Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet E-pit is an electric vehicle charging station prepared in collaboration with Hyundai Department Store, which attracts many visitors, to promote the spread of electric vehicles by Hyundai Motor Group.


Hyundai Motor Group explained that the Second Gyeongin Expressway and Seohaean Expressway pass near Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo, with an estimated daily traffic volume of over 10,000 vehicles, and charging demand is also expected to be high.


The E-pit, located in the ground parking lot near Gate 2 of Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo, is equipped with four 260 kW ultra-fast chargers and two 100 kW fast chargers.


Hyundai Motor Group will also open the E-pit charging station to customers using other companies' electric vehicles. Electric vehicles adopting the domestic charging standard DC Combo Type 1 as the basic charging method can use the station regardless of the manufacturer.


To commemorate the opening of this E-pit, Hyundai Motor Group plans to hold an event on the same day with the meaning of recharging the daily lives of citizens tired from COVID-19. The event consists of a congratulatory performance, electric vehicle test drive event, and a kids' Nexo electric car experience for child customers.


A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "The Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet E-pit will further enhance the charging experience of various customers," adding, "Along with the expansion of the electric vehicle market, we will continuously expand charging infrastructure not only at highway rest areas but also in urban areas to secure leadership in the electric vehicle market."


Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has installed E-pit charging stations at 12 highway rest areas nationwide as of April, operating a total of 72 chargers, and from July, it has begun full-scale construction of urban ultra-fast charging infrastructure starting with Euljiro Center One. In the second half of the year, it plans to continuously expand the urban network, including Hanwha Seoul Station and Gwangmyeong Autoland, to improve customer convenience within easily accessible living areas.
