Systematic Service Support for Child Abuse and Sex Trafficking Victims in the Jeonnam Region
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency (Director Im Gwangmuk) announced on the 30th that it has signed a business agreement with the Jeonnam Child and Youth Support Center (Center Director Yoo Chunjin) to protect the rights of children who are victims of child abuse and sex trafficking.
At this agreement ceremony, both organizations recognized the necessity of protection and support for children who are victims of child abuse and sex trafficking, and agreed to cooperate in establishing a safety net to protect these children.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲support for children who are victims of child abuse and sex trafficking within the jurisdiction ▲provision of services such as advancement, counseling, education, and treatment for child safety and human rights protection ▲education and consultation for specialized personnel supporting victims.
The Jeonnam Child and Youth Support Center was established to protect children and youth who are victims of sex trafficking and to support their healthy growth as members of society.
It operates a comprehensive service support system including early detection, emergency rescue, counseling, protection, self-reliance and self-support, treatment, and recovery to help children and youth victims of sex trafficking smoothly reintegrate into society.
Im Gwangmuk, Director of the Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency, stated, “We will do our best to protect and support children and youth who have suffered from child abuse and sex trafficking so that they can grow up safely.”
Yoo Chunjin, Director of the Jeonnam Child and Youth Support Center, said, “Cases of child abuse and sex trafficking are increasing every year. Through this agreement, we hope that children in need of help in the local community can grow up safely.”
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Western Region Child Protection Agency was opened in August 1998 in accordance with Article 45 (Establishment of Child Protection Agencies) of the Child Welfare Act.
Also, pursuant to Article 46 of the same law, it actively carries out case management and child abuse prevention projects such as treatment of abused children within the jurisdiction of Mokpo City, Shinan County, Muan County, Yeongam County, Gangjin County, Haenam County, Jindo County, and Wando County in Jeollanam-do.
