LINC+ Project Group, Successive Achievements in Promotional Video Production and Product Design
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The so-called ‘Capstone Design’. It is an era where universities act as ‘problem solvers’ for tasks that public institutions or companies cannot solve or do not have the capacity to resolve.
Since 2020, Dongseo University has been solving tasks requested by local organizations or companies through a contest-type Capstone Design every semester.
The university announced on the 29th that it has achieved more substantial and meaningful industry-academia cooperation results.
Capstone Design is a practical project aimed at nurturing manpower needed in the industrial field.
Students independently design, plan, and produce works that solve problems faced by industries or local communities. It is a hands-on talent development program that allows students to experience the entire process.
Among them, the ‘contest-type’ Capstone Design promoted by Dongseo University accepts tasks requiring solutions from family companies or local organizations through a contest over a certain period.
Then, it matches professors within the university who can perform the tasks with companies. The tasks are solved together with students over one semester.
After the tasks are completed at the end of the semester, the results are delivered to the respective companies through presentations or demonstrations.
Through the contest-type Capstone Design, Dongseo University completed tasks requested by 23 companies last year. In the first semester of this year, it solved tasks requested by 9 companies, producing results reflecting the demands of a total of 32 companies. The fruits of this effort returned to the companies.
The contest-type Capstone Design of the Department of Broadcasting and Video, conducted at the request of the Busan Cosmetics Companies Association (advising professors Kim Hyun and Park Mi-sun), was the production of promotional videos for products of 11 cosmetics companies in the Busan area during the first and second semesters of 2020.
Students’ creative ideas shone through their skills. The promotional videos were uploaded on the companies’ websites. This is a representative case where the videos were actually used for company and product promotion.
In the first semester of this year, the Department of Design’s contest-type Capstone Design (advising professor Kim Ki-su) was conducted at the request of Busan Modern Chain.
They worked on brand design for the company’s new products. By receiving actual client requirements through the tasks, students develop practical skills while also aiming for employment.
Jo Dae-su, head of Dongseo University’s LINC+ Project Group, said, “Through various field demand-oriented programs including the contest-type Capstone Design, we will enhance participating students’ practical field capabilities and achieve industry-academia cooperation that truly helps local companies.”
