Hampyeong-gun's 'Agricultural Products Safety Analysis Lab' Stands Out as a Leader in Residual Pesticide Testing

[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The 'Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Laboratory' at the Hampyeong-gun Agricultural Technology Center has emerged as a leader in nationwide residual pesticide analysis.

Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 29th that the 'Agricultural Product Safety Analysis Laboratory,' opened in 2016, conducts over 1,500 residual pesticide analyses annually on local agricultural products.

Based on this analytical capability, the center is the only one among the 22 city and county agricultural technology centers in Jeollanam-do authorized to issue residual pesticide analysis certificates for GAP and eco-friendly certifications.

Furthermore, this year, through the revision of related ordinances and regulations, the scope of analysis has been expanded to include not only residual pesticide inspections of agricultural products but also heavy metals, water quality (rivers and lakes), and nutrient solution sources for facility cultivation.

Additionally, the center participates twice a year in the international proficiency testing (FAPAS) to enhance the analytical skills of related professionals and increases reliability through inter-laboratory cross-validation.

A center official stated, "Thorough harmful substance inspections of local agricultural products have secured consumer trust, and due to the systematic operation of the analysis laboratory, inquiries from other local governments aiming to benchmark our system are continuously coming in."

County Governor Lee Sang-ik said, "We will strengthen the competitiveness of our local food through agricultural product safety inspections," and added, "We ask farmers to conduct residual pesticide inspections to produce safe agricultural products."
