Exploring the Future Direction of Korean Language Development... 'World Korean Language Festival'

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Institute of the Korean Language announced on the 29th that the "World Korean Language Festival" will be held online from the 4th to the 9th of next month. The international academic conference, language industry exhibition, and exhibition of award-winning works from the Korean language contest will be broadcast live through the official website.

About 130 participants including Korean language scholars and educators from various countries, translation and interpretation experts, and language industry professionals will take part in the international academic conference. They will explore directions for the continuous development of the Korean language. Barbara Zitwer, a literary introduction expert who introduced works by novelists Han Kang and Shin Kyung-sook to the world, will give a lecture titled "The Future of Korean Language, Korean Literature, and Korean Culture." Lee Kyung-il, CEO of the language AI company Saltlux, will present on "Sejong's Dream, Blossomed by Artificial Intelligence," discussing changes in Korean language AI technology.

The language industry exhibition, held for the first time this year, will introduce AI language processing technologies under the theme "Artificial Intelligence and the Language Industry." Attendees can experience Naver's Clova Note, which distinguishes speakers and creates meeting minutes by recording meeting content; SK Telecom's T-Phone Nugu, which utilizes AI services in mobile environments; and Saltlux's Sweet, which allows conversations with virtual humans. Students and job seekers can also receive consultations related to recruitment.
