[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 29th that it conducted a mock drill (FTX) in collaboration with the Amsa Arisu Water Purification Center to ensure rapid initial response during operational situations such as large-scale infiltration and anti-terrorism incidents.

The Amsa Arisu Water Purification Center, located in Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu, supplies 1.1 million tons of purified water daily to 10 autonomous districts in Seoul and is designated as a national critical facility.

The mock drill held the previous day simulated a scenario where terrorists infiltrate and disperse contaminants in the water purification facility, causing disruptions in water supply. Twenty-seven personnel, including the emergency on-site situation team formed during police operational incidents, participated.

Kang Sang-gil, Chief of Gangdong Police Station, stated, "In addition to traditional human infiltration, new types of terrorist incidents using drones have recently occurred worldwide. This drill was conducted to ensure perfect initial response in case of threats to national critical facilities, serving as an opportunity to enhance on-site response capabilities."

The Gangdong Police Station conducts linked patrols more than twice daily to prevent threats to the Amsa Arisu Water Purification Center and plans to further strengthen the cooperative system in case of emergencies based on this drill.
