Hana Financial Group and US Tishman Speyer Sign ESG-Based Joint Investment Agreement

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hana Financial Group announced on the 29th that it has signed a strategic business agreement with Tishman Speyer, one of the largest real estate investment companies in the United States, to promote global real estate co-investment based on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).

The business agreement ceremony, held virtually on the 28th due to COVID-19, was attended by Jongseung Lee, Vice President and Global Head of Hana Financial Group, Myungcheol Shin, Head of Infrastructure Finance Division at Hana Financial Investment, and Rob Speyer, CEO of Tishman Speyer.

Through this business agreement, Hana Financial Group and Tishman Speyer plan to jointly discover various high-quality investment opportunities in global real estate markets including the United States, Europe, and Asia, and agreed to jointly pursue capital investments of up to 500 million dollars over the next two years.

In particular, both companies will focus on incorporating ESG innovation factors, which have recently emerged as the most important issues, into the investment decision-making process. They will comprehensively review various ESG-related factors such as the energy efficiency and resource consumption reduction of the target real estate to decide on investments.

Additionally, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, they will actively consider investments in life science research facilities, which have seen a significant increase in demand, as well as bio-manufacturing facilities capable of mass production of medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
