[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Testimonies from neighbors have emerged stating that A (34), who murdered a couple in their 40s living upstairs in an apartment in Yeosu, Jeonnam, over noise complaints, had often complained that even showering was noisy. According to these accounts, A was sensitive to even small sounds, and the couple reportedly lived with mats laid on the floor because of this.
On the 28th, testimonies from netizens living in the same apartment as A were posted on an online community mainly used by residents of Yeosu.
One netizen said, "(The noise from the murdered couple's home) was not severe, and I understand that A was particularly sensitive even to the sound of showering," adding, "So, people should not say things like 'How bad could the noise have been?'"

An acquaintance of the victims told JTBC, "A often came up saying it was very difficult and that he was very sensitive," adding, "The couple usually lived with mats laid on the floor of their home." Another neighbor also testified in an interview with TV Chosun, "He said A came often, saying it was very hard and that he was very sensitive. He kept coming to ask for quiet even years ago."
According to the Jeonnam Yeosu Police Station, at around 12:33 a.m. on the 27th, A murdered the couple living upstairs in an apartment in Deokchung-dong, Yeosu City, over noise complaints and injured the couple's parents in their 60s. The couple's two children escaped to a room and locked the door, avoiding harm.
Just before the crime, A had an argument with the couple over the noise issue and committed the crime with a weapon he had beforehand. After the crime, A came down to his own home and surrendered to the police, saying, "I killed someone."
During the investigation, A stated, "I was angry because it was noisy upstairs, and I committed the crime impulsively." A was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime and had no history of mental illness.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after conducting a thorough investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident with A.
