[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] Former President Lee Myung-bak, currently incarcerated at Anyang Prison, has once again sent a reply to a letter from a supporter.

On the 28th, a netizen posted on the online student community Orbi with the title "I told President Lee Myung-bak a nickname."

The netizen shared a photo of the letter received from the former president, saying, "I explained that these days on the internet he is called 'Insider (Insider: someone who gets along well with others)' because of his past diplomatic activities, and he immediately used it in his reply."

The reply letter revealed by the author read, "I was very pleased. I look forward to meeting you soon. I wish you good luck during these difficult times. I am praying for the country." At the bottom of the letter, in small letters, the sender's part included the word 'Insider,' followed by the signature 'Lee Myung-bak.'

It is not uncommon for the former president to send replies. Another netizen shared, "I asked former President Lee Myung-bak to send me one autograph, and he really did," revealing a letter that said, "Although I have many shortcomings, I believe I have lived honestly and diligently all my life. OOO, I hope your wishes come true. I will also pray to God." This netizen also explained, "I think I received the reply in about five days. If you want a reply, you need to include your address and postal code separately in the letter."

In June, a post was also made on the Korea University alumni community Gopas about receiving a reply from former President Lee Myung-bak. Regarding this, the former president’s lawyer stated, "A student sent posters and letters from when he was a presidential candidate, and I heard that he personally replied. It is a principle to send replies when letters are received."

Meanwhile, former President Lee Myung-bak has been serving a prison sentence at Anyang Prison since last October after being sentenced to 17 years in prison, fined 13 billion KRW, and ordered to pay 5.78 billion KRW in additional fines for charges including embezzlement of DAS funds and bribery involving Samsung.
