[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] A story has been revealed about a woman who desperately wanted a baby, ordered an artificial insemination kit online, received donated sperm, and successfully became pregnant.
On the 29th (local time), according to the British media outlet Mirror, Stephanie Taylor (33), who lives in North Yorkshire, decided to have a second child because she did not want her son Frankie, born from her previous marriage, to be an only child.
However, Stephanie wanted to have a baby without meeting another man and starting a family. She visited a private infertility clinic but considered giving up on having a second child due to the considerable costs.
While looking for other options, Stephanie was recommended an artificial insemination kit and purchased it from the eBay shopping mall. The artificial insemination kit is a product that allows one to attempt pregnancy by inserting sperm into the uterus by oneself.
Afterward, Stephanie used the sperm and egg donation app "Just A Baby" to receive donated sperm. On this app, users can select desired options such as appearance, presence of diseases, and personality, and if a match is made, they can purchase sperm samples.
Stephanie wanted a man with a family-oriented style, no serious medical history, and an appearance similar to hers and Frankie's. She found a match within a day and communicated with the man via messages for about three weeks before receiving the sperm sample in January last year.
Stephanie then attempted insemination herself using the donated sperm and the kit, and two weeks later, she found out she was pregnant. Stephanie recalled, "My mother and younger sister were happy, but my father was hesitant at first. However, now he says it was a great decision."
Stephanie welcomed her second daughter, Eden, on October 15 last year. She said, "She is a miracle and an online baby. If I hadn't approached this online, Eden wouldn't be here. I am proud of the way Eden came into the world."
She added, "Even if Eden wants to meet her biological father when she gets older, it won't be a problem."
The anonymous sperm donor said, "Stephanie is an amazing person, and if she wants more children in the future, I am willing to donate again."
