[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] As of 5 p.m. on the 28th, Gyeongsangnam-do announced that 88 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported.
By region, there are 31 cases in Gimhae, 20 in Yangsan, 15 in Changwon, 12 in Geoje, 3 in Jinju, 2 in Geochang, and 1 each in Sacheon, Miryang, Haman, Changnyeong, and Hadong. Except for 6 cases who entered from overseas, including 3 USFK personnel, all are locally transmitted infections.
Among the confirmed cases in Gimhae, 14 and the confirmed cases in Changnyeong are related to foreign restaurants within the region. They are either restaurant patrons or employees, or acquaintances, coworkers, or family members who had contact with them.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases related to foreign restaurants in Gimhae has increased to 78. Among the confirmed cases in Gimhae, 2 are related to another foreign restaurant within the region. The quarantine authorities have classified this cluster as Gimhae Foreign Restaurant II.
The Gimhae Foreign Restaurant II cluster, which had been under investigation for infection routes, started with 2 confirmed cases on the 23rd after 5 acquaintances visited the restaurant, and since then, 25 additional cases have been confirmed. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 27.
Two restaurants visited by confirmed cases were found to have inadequate visitor log management, and the quarantine authorities plan to proceed with administrative measures such as imposing fines.
Among the confirmed cases in Yangsan, 18 and the confirmed cases in Miryang are related to a medical institution in Yangsan, and tested positive during diagnostic tests conducted while in quarantine. The cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the Yangsan medical institution is 92.
Among the remaining confirmed cases, 17 had contact with confirmed cases within the province such as family and acquaintances, and 8 were infected through contact with confirmed cases from other regions such as Gyeonggi, Busan, and Daegu. The infection routes of 21 cases are under investigation.
Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has increased to 11,342 (557 hospitalized, 10,752 discharged, 33 deceased).
