[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 28th that 16 projects, with a total budget of 1.3609 trillion KRW, were reflected in the finalized "5th National Road and Local Road Construction Plan."
According to Jeonbuk Province, the 5th plan (2021?25) includes a total of 116 projects nationwide, amounting to 10.0355 trillion KRW.
Among these, Jeollabuk-do projects total 16, with a budget of 1.3609 trillion KRW.
There are 8 projects subject to a comprehensive preliminary feasibility study exceeding 50 billion KRW, totaling 1.0205 trillion KRW, and 8 non-preliminary feasibility study projects under 50 billion KRW, totaling 340.4 billion KRW.
Major projects include the Noeul Bridge connecting Gochang Haeri to Buan Byeonsan on National Road No. 77 with 339 billion KRW, National Road No. 1 Iksan Osan Sinji to Yeongman with 188.8 billion KRW, and Local Road No. 49 Jeongeup Bujeon to Chilbo with 101.9 billion KRW.

However, the section of National Road No. 26 Wanju Soyang to Jinan Bugwi (Boryongjae Tunnel), a local issue, was not included, leaving some disappointment.
Jeonbuk Province added that the 16 reflected projects have continuously faced civil complaints due to various complex reasons such as tourism activation, reduction of traffic accidents, and traffic disruption, and the necessity of the projects has been consistently raised. Therefore, it is expected that these projects will greatly contribute to regional development and the improvement of residents' convenience when promoted in the future.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport finalized the 5th National Road and Local Road Construction Plan by announcing it in the official gazette, and it is expected to start projects annually over the next five years according to priority, including basic design promotion.
