Rongtu Korea Signs IP Contract for Four Great Martial Arts Kings with Mr. Blue... "Promoting Martial Arts Mobile Game Development"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Mobile game specialist publisher Longtu Korea is developing a mobile game using the popular martial arts IP of online comic and webtoon specialist Mr. Blue.

Longtu Korea announced on the 28th that it has signed a contract with Mr. Blue to use martial arts comic works (IP). Through this contract, Longtu Korea will promote game development and publishing business using the martial arts Four Heavenly Kings IP?‘Hwangseong, Yaseolrok, Samadal, Haseungnam’?for which Mr. Blue holds the copyrights.

The martial arts Four Heavenly Kings is a popular martial arts IP of Mr. Blue, the only domestic platform company that owns its own martial arts IP. Mr. Blue has produced a total of 1,902 titles (about 57,275 volumes) of martial arts comics using the Four Heavenly Kings IP and is providing services domestically and internationally. The Four Heavenly Kings has a rich reader base on Mr. Blue’s own platform and holds a very high share of works in the martial arts genre category on Naver Webtoon in Korea.

Longtu Korea is a mobile-specialized publisher that has been servicing numerous mobile games such as ‘Yeolhyeol Gangho’ and ‘Sword and Magic’ for many years. It is also conducting IP licensing and game development business using the ‘Yeolhyeol Gangho’ IP owned by its subsidiary Tigon Mobile.

Longtu Korea plans to additionally develop and sell mobile emoticon products along with mobile game development using the Four Heavenly Kings IP.

Cho Seungjin, CEO of Mr. Blue, said, “We plan to actively implement a one-source multi-use (OSMU) strategy by developing the Four Heavenly Kings IP into a game using this popular IP,” and added, “We will expand the martial arts IP-related content business through close collaboration with Longtu Korea.”

Kim Bongjun, Head of Management Support at Longtu Korea, stated, “We expect that developing a game using the Four Heavenly Kings IP will have a very high chance of success not only domestically but also in China, the birthplace of martial arts,” and added, “We anticipate significant business synergy in various content-related businesses through joint projects with Mr. Blue.”
