[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Yoon Hong-geun, President of the Korea Skating Union (Chairman of Genesis BBQ Group), visited the Jincheon National Training Center in Chungbuk to encourage national team athletes training in preparation for the Beijing Winter Olympics to be held in February next year.

On the 27th, President Yoon visited the short track training center set up at the Jincheon National Training Center in Chungbuk, personally inspected the training conditions, and held a meeting with the national team coaches and athletes to discuss the improvement of training facilities and support measures.

National team athletes in ice skating disciplines have been undergoing residential training at the Jincheon Training Center since last June and will continue to focus on training until participating in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

In a greeting at the meeting with national team coaches and athletes held that day, President Yoon said, "Thanks to the recent achievements of athlete Lee Si-hyung, for the first time in the history of men's figure skating, two athletes will be able to participate in the Olympics." He added, "We will spare no effort to provide all necessary conditions so that our national team athletes can achieve the best results at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, meeting the elevated status of Korean ice skating and the expectations of the public."

Last month, President Yoon also supported athletes enduring the heat during the hottest period of summer by providing BBQ chicken sets and delivered a cheering message through a special video.

President Yoon ran unopposed in the election for the 33rd President of the Korea Skating Union last November and was elected. After receiving approval from the Korea Sports Council, he officially took office. His term is four years, lasting until January 2025.
