[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The 7th Dongpyeonje Gugak Festival, hosted by the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of next month.

On the 28th, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced that to comfort local residents and citizens, the 7th Dongpyeonje Gugak Festival will be broadcast live on Naver TV and made available as VOD for one month starting from the 18th of next month.

The Dongpyeonje Gugak Festival has been held in the Vision and Jeonchon villages area of Namwon City, Jeonbuk, the hometown of Dongpyeonje. This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to expand contact points with the audience, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation explained that the festival will be broadcast live in a non-face-to-face format.

On the first day, the opening performance of the Sori Yeoljeon features the band Illichi, who caused a sensation with "Beom Naeryeonda," a reinterpretation of pansori. On the second day, the closing performance of the Sori Yeoljeon features Master Ahn Sook-sun, holder of National Intangible Cultural Property No. 23 for Gayageum Sanjo and Byeongchang. The closing performance will also showcase the stage of Lee Bong-geun, Kim Junsu, and Yoo Taepyeongyang, who are considered the three idols of the gugak scene.

In addition, performances will be held by Park In-su, Norikkun Dodam Dodam, The Tune, Lee Na-rae, Norikkot, the music group Namu, and Jung Seung-jun.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation is currently releasing the VOD of the 7th Gyechon Classic Festival, held last August with Baek Geon-woo, Kim Sun-wook, and Clara Jumi Kang, on Art Village TV.
