[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Household goods company Lock&Lock announced on the 28th that it has launched the food waste refrigerator ‘Ddaro, Ssunaeng,’ which maintains a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
‘Ddaro. Ssunaeng’ is an abbreviation of ‘a refrigerator for waste used separately.’ Lock&Lock explained that it means not to freeze and store food waste in the freezer but to store it in ‘Ddaro, Ssunaeng.’
This product applies the cooling semiconductor ‘Peltier element,’ mainly used in car refrigerators and cosmetic refrigerators, minimizing noise and vibration. In particular, aluminum, which has high thermal conductivity, is extended to the upper inside of the main body, allowing the cold air to spread evenly to the top. The entire inner container is maintained at a temperature lower than the average temperature of a regular refrigerator, 5℃, preventing bacterial growth caused by spoilage.
According to Lock&Lock, the ‘outer lid’ connected to the main body is equipped with hollow silicone that provides strong adhesion and blocks airflow, and the ‘inner lid’ is equipped with a compression-type silicone ring, effectively blocking odors and insects with a double lid. The outer lid contains insulation material to prevent condensation caused by the temperature difference between the inside and outside.
Also, with a capacity of 3L and weight of 2.3kg based on the inner container, it is not bulky and has good mobility. By fixing the inner lid to the outer lid, you can dispose of food waste immediately by pressing the open button once. When you need to empty the waste, you can easily handle it by separating only the inner container from the main body. ‘Ddaro. Ssunaeng’ is available in two colors: white and gray.
Jung Jaewon, head of Lock&Lock’s small home appliances development team, said, “‘Ddaro, Ssunaeng’ is a product developed for customers who want to create a pleasant kitchen environment while also adding an interior effect,” and added, “We recommend it for single-person households with ambiguous amounts of food waste, dual-income couples who find it difficult to cook frequently, and three-person families whose food waste gradually increases after having children.”
