Gokseong-gun Launches Comprehensive Survey to Identify Welfare Blind Spots

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Yu Geunki) announced on the 27th that it has launched a comprehensive living environment survey for 3,004 vulnerable households over two months from September to October.

The survey involves a total of 23 personnel, including welfare teams from 11 eup and myeon districts and integrated case managers from the Hope Welfare Support Group of the Gokseong-gun Resident Welfare Division. They will focus on investigating vulnerable households expected to face difficulties in livelihood, medical care, housing, employment, and health due to the impact of COVID-19.

The survey targets were extracted through the Social Security Information System. Vulnerable households were identified based on 21 criteria, including those delinquent on health insurance premiums or communication fees, financial delinquents, households rejected from basic livelihood security and emergency welfare applications, self-employed businesses closed or suspended due to COVID-19, unemployed daily workers, and unemployment benefit recipients.

The first survey will be conducted mainly through non-face-to-face methods such as sending the first notification and telephone contact to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Through this, second survey candidates will be selected to visit homes and conduct interview counseling to carefully assess welfare needs.

Gokseong-gun also conducted a planned survey to identify vulnerable households in welfare blind spots targeting 3,423 households in the first half of the year. As a result, 601 households received public service support and were connected to private welfare services.

An official from the county stated, “Our county has reinforced the health and welfare delivery system by recruiting professional integrated case managers through a pilot project for strengthening the health and welfare delivery system. In August, nursing public officials were assigned to 11 eup and myeon districts to establish a dedicated visiting health and welfare system. We will actively strive to resolve crises among vulnerable groups.”
