[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] The Korea Teachers' Pension announced on the 27th that it has decided to extend the term of Lee Gyu-hong, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the Fund Management Division, whose 2-year term expires this month, by one year.
The term for the Chief Investment Officer of the Korea Teachers' Pension Fund Management Division is two years, but it can be renewed annually based on performance evaluations during the term. Lee Gyu-hong's term was from October 1, 2019, to September 30, 2021, but it has been extended by one year until September 30, 2022.
The Korea Teachers' Pension explained, "CIO Lee achieved excellent results during his tenure," adding, "Not only did he record a fund management return rate in the 11% range over the two-year term, but he also achieved the highest operating profit in the history of the Korea Teachers' Pension at the end of last year (2.1411 trillion KRW), demonstrating outstanding performance."
They continued, "We highly evaluated his contributions and leadership to the Korea Teachers' Pension, and the consideration of the fund's operational stability for the remainder of this year was a major factor in the contract renewal."
CIO Lee was born in 1966 and majored in Business Administration at Yonsei University. He holds an MBA from New York University and is a fund expert. He previously served as CIO at Eastspring Asset Management Korea and NH-Amundi Asset Management, and was CEO of Ascendas Asset Management Co., Ltd.
