The "11th 2021 Green Building Festival," hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, will be held online from the 28th to the 29th.
This year's Green Building Festival will be held under the theme "Green Building, Towards Carbon Neutrality." It consists of forums, seminars, conferences, and career exploration education for youth. It is a platform where the government, industry, academia, and civil society participate to share the latest domestic and international policies and technologies related to carbon neutrality and green remodeling.
The opening ceremony will take place on the 28th at 10 a.m., featuring an opening address by Kim Byung-seok, President of the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, a welcome speech by Minister Noh Hyung-wook of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and a congratulatory speech by National Assembly member Lee So-young. This will be followed by an awards ceremony recognizing contributors to green building, contributors to green remodeling, outstanding companies in the building sector's greenhouse gas and energy target management system, the Green Building Exhibition, and excellent cases of green remodeling.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Lee Seung-eon, a researcher at the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, presenting "Preparations for Achieving Carbon Neutrality in the Building Sector by 2050." Afterwards, Brian Motherway, Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Professor Lee Hye-won of Daejin University, and architectural critic Sarah W. Goldhagen will give lectures on the theme of "Realizing Carbon Neutrality."
Minister Noh Hyung-wook stated, "Through this event, the public will have an opportunity to share and empathize with policies, technologies, and the latest information aimed at realizing carbon neutrality, a global concern." The event will be held online, allowing anyone to participate, and various information can be accessed through the website for event participation and the online exhibition hall.
