K200 Armored Vehicle and FA-50 Performance Improvement 추진

[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] Performance improvement projects are being promoted for more than 60 weapon systems, including the K200 series armored vehicles. The K200 series armored vehicles were developed in the 1980s and have been deployed for over 40 years.

On the 27th, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced that on the 28th, it will hold a briefing session on the weapon system operability enhancement support project plan for interested companies at the Korea Defense Industry Promotion Association. After this briefing, DAPA plans to finalize new projects next month and announce bids for each project starting next year.

DAPA has submitted a government proposal of 269.2 billion KRW for next year's project budget to improve weapon system performance to the National Assembly.

By military branch, the Army plans to replace the mechanical speed and rotation meters of the K200 series armored vehicles developed in the 1980s with electronic ones, as well as replace aging equipment such as batteries for the Chinook (CH-47D) helicopters.

The Navy plans to improve magnetic field calibration equipment currently in use to reduce magnetic signatures on major warships. This is expected to enhance ship survivability and resolve parts obsolescence issues.

Additionally, the Air Force plans to explain to interested companies the related parts improvement projects aimed at enhancing stability during high-speed ground taxiing of FA/TA-50 aircraft.
