[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] KOTRA announced that it will hold the 'K-Lifestyle in China' exhibition and consultation event for two days starting on the 27th in Beijing and Shanghai, the leading consumer regions in China, to support the export of Korean consumer goods companies.
This project is KOTRA's representative consumer goods export support initiative conducted annually in major markets across overseas regions. This year, the China project will be held in Beijing and Shanghai. Both regions will implement a hybrid online and offline approach, including export consultation meetings and on-site experience zones. Specifically, the program consists of ▲online and offline consultation meetings ▲O2O (online-to-offline) sample exhibitions ▲seminars for companies entering the market, among various other programs.
Before the event started, promotion using B2C (business-to-consumer) social media and Wanghong (online influencers) marketing, as well as B2B (business-to-business) video consultations, were conducted. Additionally, for two days from the event date, offline on-site one-on-one consultations and sample exhibitions will be held simultaneously, expecting tangible business outcomes.
The scale of participation has also significantly expanded compared to last year. While 49 Korean companies and 50 Chinese companies participated last year, this year 300 Korean companies and 400 Chinese companies will participate to support the expansion of export performance of excellent Korean consumer goods. A diverse range of Korean companies, from domestic and export beginner companies in cosmetics, food, daily necessities, and other innovative consumer goods sectors to mid-sized companies, will actively engage in consultations with local leading consumer goods distribution companies such as Jingdong (京?) and Darunfa (RT-Mart).
In particular, KOTRA aims to develop this project into an event jointly participated by public institutions and industry associations from both countries ahead of the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations next year. Korea’s Embassy in China and the Consulate General in Shanghai are sponsoring this project, while organizations such as the Korea Institute of Design Promotion and the Korea Food Import & Distribution Association supported the recruitment of participating companies. On the Chinese side, organizations including the Commercial Federation, Asia Economic Development Association, OKTA (World Korean Traders Association), and the Korean-Chinese Entrepreneurs Association contributed to recruiting excellent buyers. To create a synergy effect by adding cultural elements to consumer goods, an offline Korean culture experience zone was also set up in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization at the event venue.
Hong Chang-pyo, Head of KOTRA’s China Regional Headquarters, said, "We expect this project to serve as an opportunity to once again boost the popularity of our consumer goods in the Chinese market," adding, "We plan to actively promote various projects that can increase the market share of our consumer goods in China going forward."
