[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] The first trial of actress Lizzy (real name Park Sooyoung, 29), a former member of the idol group After School, who caused a rear-end collision while driving under the influence, will be held.
According to the court on the 27th, Judge Yang Soeun of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 21 will conduct Lizzy's first hearing at 10:45 a.m. on charges including dangerous driving causing injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
Earlier, Lizzy was indicted in June for allegedly driving under the influence around 10 p.m. on May 18 and crashing into a taxi ahead near the southern end intersection of Yeongdong Bridge in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, injuring the taxi driver.
At the time, Lizzy's blood alcohol concentration was at the license cancellation level (0.08%), and investigations confirmed that neither Lizzy nor the taxi driver had passengers in their vehicles.
Lizzy's agency stated, "We deeply regret this inexcusable wrongdoing and take full responsibility," adding, "Lizzy is sincerely remorseful and reflecting on her actions." On the 14th, Lizzy also tearfully apologized during a live broadcast on her social media account, saying, "I did disappoint everyone," and "I know I was very wrong and I am sorry." However, she explained, "The driver was not seriously injured, but the media reported it that way."
Lizzy debuted in 2010 as a member of the group After School and was also active as a member of the sub-unit group Orange Caramel. She has been pursuing solo activities since leaving After School in 2018.
