[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] LG Electronics is launching a new model of its guide robot, the ‘LG CLOi GuideBot’.
LG Electronics and WTC Seoul announced on the 26th that starting next month, they will deploy two new units at the Trade Center COEX Mall in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, and conduct a three-month pilot service.
The LG CLOi GuideBot not only provides guidance to major facilities within the building but also offers a ‘destination companion service’ by accompanying customers to their destinations. It also sends facility-related information to visitors via text messages.
The docent function is another strength. In a situation where visitors prefer contactless services due to COVID-19, this robot can introduce content and conduct tours for visitors to libraries, museums, and exhibition halls.
The GuideBot is equipped with 27-inch displays on both the front and rear. This enables customized targeted advertising depending on specific locations and times. For example, in the morning, it naturally guides customers to restaurants with phrases like “Good morning. Let me introduce brunch restaurants open in the morning,” and near the cinema, it introduces newly released movies, thereby attracting customer interest and maximizing advertising and promotional effects.
Additionally, the LG CLOi GuideBot performs security duties by patrolling inside the building even during late-night hours. It stores video footage captured by its camera on the main unit and will allow remote monitoring. It can also be integrated with security solutions operated independently by customers.
LG Electronics provides customers with an integrated control system and continuous maintenance services.
The LG Electronics Robot Integrated Control System (LG CLOi Cloud Station) offers comprehensive solutions necessary for system operation, including real-time robot monitoring and remote control, as well as management of various information, content, schedules, and statistics. LG Electronics also provides software upgrade packages, enabling customers to continuously receive new user experiences.
Meanwhile, the ‘LG CLOi GuideBot’ launched by LG Electronics in 2018 is currently performing duties at Incheon Airport, Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, GS Construction model houses, and Hyundai Department Store The Hyundai Seoul.
Roh Kyuchan, Executive Director of LG Electronics’ Robot Business Division, said, “With LG’s differentiated robot solutions that can respond to customer needs in various fields such as hotels, hospitals, residences, and F&B, we will provide operational efficiency and service advancement, establishing ourselves as the optimal business partner.”
