Korea Coast Guard Academy Holds Graduation Ceremony for 242nd New Police Officers


[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] The Korea Coast Guard Education Center held the 242nd New Police Graduation Ceremony on the 24th, attended by Jeong Bong-hoon, Deputy Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard and Director of the Education Center, heads of departments, staff, and representatives of graduates, totaling 49 people.


The ceremony was held at the small auditorium of the Korea Coast Guard Education Center located in Ocheon-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do. The graduates of the 242nd class numbered 125 new police officers (103 men and 22 women), marking the first offline graduation ceremony since COVID-19.


The graduates, who enrolled last December, received various training over nine months, including ship operation, lifesaving, and criminal law. They recently completed ship practice and frontline station training safely, and obtained licenses for maritime officer, lifesaving, and water leisure equipment.


Kim Hong-hee, Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard, in a congratulatory video, urged, “Based on the motto of the Korea Coast Guard Education Center?Honor, Courage, and Devotion?please grow into the core leaders of the future trusted maritime police who are strong on the field and responsible for the safety of the people.”
