[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Daegu has broken the record for the highest number of daily COVID-19 confirmed cases this year.

The largest number this year, 128 confirmed COVID-19 cases, have emerged, causing health authorities to be on high alert.

During the Chuseok holiday period, karaoke rooms and entertainment bars became infection clusters, and group infections occurred among foreigners who used these facilities.

The 128 new confirmed cases in one day surpassed the previous high of 121 cases on the 4th of last month, marking the highest since the 4th wave of the pandemic.

According to Daegu City on the 24th, 128 new locally transmitted confirmed cases were added the previous day, bringing the cumulative total to 14,815 as of midnight that day.

Sixty-two confirmed cases occurred at a karaoke room in Bisan-dong, Seo-gu, and an entertainment bar in Nongong-eup, Dalseong-gun.

Investigations revealed that these two establishments were mainly used by foreigners who had naturalized from a specific country or shared the same nationality.

Health authorities believe that after one karaoke employee tested positive on the 20th, the infection spread to a Dalseong-gun entertainment bar visited by customers of that karaoke room.

Additionally, 27 people related to a sauna in Seo-gu tested positive, and 4 others from another sauna facility in Seo-gu also tested positive.

Two people from an acquaintance gathering in Dalseo-gu, one person related to a sports facility in Dalseo-gu, and one person from a high school student acquaintance gathering in Buk-gu were confirmed positive.

Nineteen people were contacts of existing confirmed cases, and the infection route for 12 people remains unknown.
