[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Card companies have begun recruiting new employees for the second half of the year. The keyword is 'digital.' As the influence of big tech (large information and communication companies) grows in the payment market, they are also focusing on recruiting talent to secure future growth industries such as MyData and the data industry.

According to the industry on the 24th, KB Kookmin Card is conducting rolling recruitment for new employees related to digital and information technology (IT) until the 27th. This recruitment covers a total of six areas: ▲content planning ▲data ▲platform development ▲IT development ▲system operation ▲information security. For content planning and data sectors, the written test includes a National Competency Standards (NCS)-based basic job competency evaluation and a digital/data finance knowledge assessment. The other four sectors require candidates to take a basic job competency evaluation along with practical tests such as programming.

Earlier, Shinhan Card conducted its second half new employee recruitment from the 24th of last month to the 6th. The usual recruitment period, which was held in September to October, was moved up. The recruitment fields include ▲marketing ▲data analysis ▲information and communication technology (ICT) development ▲data scientist ▲information security ▲UX (user experience) planning ▲design, with more than half of the positions focused on digital and data.

Samsung Card closed applications for the second half open recruitment from the 7th to the 13th. The application fields are ▲marketing ▲sales ▲IT ▲data analysis ▲management support, totaling five sectors. The aptitude test is scheduled for October to November, and interviews will be held between November and December. Hyundai Card operates a recruitment-type internship system. Internships for planning positions are scheduled for September to October, and digital positions are recruited on a rolling basis grouped by job type.

Card companies are focusing on recruiting digital talent as non-face-to-face payments accelerate due to COVID-19. With big tech's share exceeding 40% in simple payments and their growing influence in the payment market, recruitment of talent in the digital sector, a new growth engine, has increased. Especially with the implementation of MyData and the growing importance of data, both the financial sector and big tech are concentrating on hiring specialized personnel.

An industry official said, "The competition for talent recruitment in the future growth sectors of data and IT has intensified further as the non-face-to-face payment culture has spread due to COVID-19," adding, "Rolling recruitment has also become the trend due to the impact of COVID-19."
