Actor Seo Isuk Files Police Complaint Against Spreader of Fake Death Rumors

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Actress Seo Yi-sook has filed a criminal complaint against an unidentified individual who spread false rumors of her death on an online community during the Chuseok holiday period.

On the 23rd, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced that Seo's side submitted a complaint requesting punishment for the author of the online post on charges of defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.

Earlier, on the 20th, a post in the form of a news article claiming that Seo had died of a heart attack was published on an online community. A similar post had also been uploaded to this community in July.

Seo's agency stated on the 21st, "Although it is not certain if it was the same individual, we are aware that many fake death articles about other actors have also been posted," adding, "We will respond strongly to ensure definite punishment."

Seo, who debuted as a theater actress in 1989, has been active in various genres including musicals, films, and dramas. Her recent works include the drama 'Start-Up' and the play 'Makeup Room.'
