Chonnam National University Achieves A Grade in University Innovation Support Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Chonnam National University received an A grade, the highest rating in Type Ⅰ (Autonomous Agreement Type), in both the second-year annual evaluation and the comprehensive evaluation for years 1 to 3 of the University Innovation Support Project, led by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.


According to Chonnam National University on the 23rd, in the second-year evaluation of the University Innovation Support Project, which supports the establishment of a future-oriented creative talent cultivation system through university autonomy innovation, the university received excellent evaluations for achieving goals in education, research, and industry-academia cooperation programs, as well as for the systematic establishment of the project management organization.


In the comprehensive evaluation, the university earned high scores across all evaluation indicators, including project performance aligned with the goal of "entering the global top 300 universities," appropriateness of project fund execution, project performance management, and overall outcomes, ultimately receiving the highest A grade overall.


The annual evaluation is conducted by dividing the country into five regional zones, and project funds are allocated differentially according to the grades.


Previously, Chonnam National University laid the foundation for educational innovation through initiatives such as establishing advanced departments centered on the AI Convergence College, promoting autonomous innovation tailored to the characteristics of each department/major, and various programs to cultivate convergence capabilities and future research generations.


Additionally, the university built a future-oriented education system responding to social changes by developing the non-face-to-face exam platform ‘CNU-Exam,’ achieving high participation in faculty development programs for remote teaching methods, and operating a visiting counselor system for student mental health management.


President Jeong Seong-taek stated, “Universities must play a leading role in nurturing future talents demanded by the times.” He added, “Chonnam National University will do its best to proactively respond to social issues and regional innovation as a regional national university.”
