[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Seobu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chief Yang Young-gyu) conducted a training session on mastering the use of life-saving rescue mats on the 23rd to minimize human casualties at various accident sites such as fires and rescues.
The life-saving rescue mat is equipment used in emergency escape situations at disaster sites such as fires and rescues. It functions by inflating with air to cushion the impact during a human fall.
There are two types of life-saving rescue mats: one for up to 15 floors and another for up to 5 floors. The time required from storage to being ready for rescue is only 150 seconds and 60 seconds respectively, enabling rapid rescue.
The Seobu Fire Station places life-saving rescue mats at each 119 Safety Center under its jurisdiction and regularly conducts training to master the use of the equipment for quick response at accident sites, while also educating on safety rules when using the equipment.
Jo Ho-ik, Director of the 119 Disaster Response Division, stated, “We will strive to create a safe Seogu by securing the ability to respond to various situations through continuous training and education.”
