[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Reviewing the status of the September occasional asset disclosures of high-ranking public officials, former Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung reported assets worth 2,039,390,000 KRW. Among current high-ranking public officials, Joo Hyun, Director of the Industrial Research Institute at the Office for Government Policy Coordination, had the highest assets at 16,066,330,000 KRW.

The Government Official Ethics Committee disclosed the asset registration details of 86 high-ranking public officials through the Republic of Korea Electronic Gazette at midnight on the 24th. Among the high-ranking officials, the disclosure targets included 25 new officials, 23 promoted officials, and 31 retired officials, totaling 86 individuals.

Former Chairman Choi Jae-hyung was also included in this asset disclosure. Former Chairman Choi reported land assets worth 111,000,000 KRW, including farmland and forest land in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, owned by his spouse, and an apartment in Mok-dong, Seoul, owned by his spouse valued at 1,080,000,000 KRW. He reported deposits of 722,610,000 KRW, most of which are assets owned by his spouse.

Among current officials, Kim Han-gyu, Political Secretary at the Blue House, reported assets worth 4,689,480,000 KRW. Secretary Kim reported farmland in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, owned by his spouse at 142,240,000 KRW, but it is known that he sold it in September.

Secretary Kim reported his own apartment in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at 2,233,000,000 KRW. Deposits owned by himself and his spouse were reported at 2,169,390,000 KRW.

Meanwhile, among current high-ranking public officials, following Joo Hyun, Director of the Industrial Research Institute at the Office for Government Policy Coordination, An Seong-wook, Vice Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (8,779,520,000 KRW), and Yoon Sang-heum, Director of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (6,875,650,000 KRW), ranked first to third in asset value.

Among retired high-ranking public officials, Hwang Seok-tae, former Director of the Environmental Policy Office at the Ministry of Environment (4,746,250,000 KRW), Lee Yong-gu, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice (4,693,510,000 KRW), and Jeong Nam-jun, former Chairman of the Government Employees Pension Service at the Ministry of Personnel Management (4,616,920,000 KRW), had relatively high assets.
