Pregnant Women Respond Positively to Various Childbirth Promotion Policies
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County is gaining positive responses by alleviating economic burdens through pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare support projects targeting pregnant women and women of childbearing age.
On the 23rd, Muju County is making every effort to create a birth-friendly environment in the local community facing low birth rates and an aging society by implementing various maternal and child health projects from pregnancy to childbirth.
First, Muju County provides folic acid supplements (3 months), necessary for the normal development of the fetal neural tube in early pregnancy, iron supplements (5 months), and vitamin D to pregnant women upon registration.
Additionally, as congratulatory gifts for pregnancy, a set of three newborn items (organic innerwear, swaddling cloth, and a newborn nail clipper set) and stretch mark cream are provided.
After childbirth, a maternal and newborn health care service co-payment support project is being promoted.
This project involves professionally trained maternal and newborn health care workers visiting postpartum families to provide services to mothers and newborns. The county additionally supports 90% of the co-payment amount after deducting government subsidies from the total service price.
Muju County is also implementing a pregnant women transportation support project.
This project aims to assist pregnant women in visiting nearby obstetrics and gynecology clinics for prenatal checkups and delivery by providing transportation expenses up to 580,000 KRW for a maximum of 13 trips per person.
Furthermore, Muju County offers free rental services for childbirth and childcare items (breast pumps, nursing seats, bottle sterilizers, baby food makers), supports diapers and formula for low-income families, and provides examinations and medical expenses for the health of pregnant women and newborns, thereby reducing the burden on families with newborns.
For inquiries about various medical expense supports in Muju County, please contact the maternal and child health project officer.
