The First MVNO Wearable Device Plan
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi]KB Kookmin Bank’s Liiv M announced on the 23rd that it will launch the ‘LTE Watch Plan,’ a dedicated rate plan for smartwatches, on the 24th.
The ‘LTE Watch Plan’ is designed for customers using Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch. The basic fee is 7,700 KRW per month, and if used together with a Liiv Mobile phone line, a discount of 1,100 KRW per month is applied, making the monthly fee 6,600 KRW.
Subscribers to the plan receive a basic package similar to that of mobile carriers, including 50 minutes of voice calls, 250 text messages, and 250MB of data. The plan is available on cellular models of smartwatches, allowing users to make and receive calls, send texts, and use SNS even when going out without carrying a phone. In particular, the ‘One Number Service’ is provided free of charge, enabling the use of the phone number on the smartwatch as is, and after applying for data sharing, the basic call, text, and data allowances of the phone can be shared.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the launch of the rate plan, Liiv M is running an event offering new customers who use the plan together with a phone line free use of the plan for three months until the end of December. A KB Kookmin Bank official stated, “We will continue to strive to ensure that many customers can enjoy high-quality financial and telecommunications convergence service benefits.”
