Dongshin University, 'Top A Grade' in University Innovation Support Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Dongshin University announced on the 22nd that it received the ‘Highest A Grade’ in the 2021 University Innovation Support Project (Type 1) performance evaluation.

Following the first year (2019), Dongshin University achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the ‘Highest A Grade’ in both the second-year (2020) annual evaluation and the three-year comprehensive evaluation conducted this year.

Among universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam, only Dongshin University and Chonnam National University received an A grade in both the first year and this performance evaluation.

Dongshin University was evaluated to have achieved good results by promoting various projects in the fields of ▲education ▲industry-academia cooperation ▲other innovation areas to accomplish the innovation support project goal of ‘student-centered demand-customized creative talent cultivation.’

In the crisis situation caused by COVID-19, the declaration of the ‘New Challenge’ led to improvements in classroom environments and learning management systems, as well as organizational restructuring, regulation improvements, and monitoring operations to manage the quality of remote classes, which contributed to the high scores.

Excellent COVID-19 quarantine systems, development and operation of student mental health programs, appropriateness of project fund execution based on innovation strategies by area, systematic organization for project promotion, execution, and performance management, and autonomous performance indicator setting aligned with project goals also received favorable evaluations.

With this A grade selection, Dongshin University plans to focus the incentives received on discovering and operating educational programs to strengthen students’ basic competencies, accelerating educational innovation.

Choi Il, President of Dongshin University, said, “Through this evaluation, we were able to reaffirm our reputation as an education-centered university and a university that teaches well,” adding, “We will establish ourselves as a key university in Gwangju and Jeonnam leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution through educational innovation.”

Meanwhile, Dongshin University has been conducting the University Innovation Support Project Type 1 (Autonomous Agreement Type) for three years since 2019, and was selected as a general financial support university in the ‘3rd Cycle University Basic Competency Diagnosis’ announced by the Ministry of Education last month, allowing it to continue the University Innovation Support Project beyond next year.
