Jinju City Promotes Business Environment Improvement Project for Small Business Owners

Jinju City Promotes Business Environment Improvement Project for Small Business Owners Jinju City Hall

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 22nd that it will promote the ‘Jinju-type Small Business Owner Small-scale Management Environment Improvement Project’ to support small business owners struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

This project is a customized support program for small business owners, initiated by Jinju City by revising the ‘Jinju City Ordinance on the Protection and Support of Small Business Owners’ and using its own budget.

The city secured a project budget of 200 million KRW to support the improvement of store management environments for small business owner stores, including outdoor signboard replacement, interior and exterior renovations, restroom improvements, purchase of facility fixtures, and promotional support.

The support conditions are limited to small business owners operating for more than six months according to their business registration certificate within the jurisdiction, and businesses that have participated in similar projects such as the Gyeongnam Province Small-scale Management Environment Improvement Project, Startup Success Bridge, or Hope Dream Package within the last five years are excluded from support.

Support will be provided up to 2 million KRW within 80% of the supply price per company, and any amount exceeding the limit and VAT will be borne by the business owner. Applications can be submitted from the 27th until October 15th by preparing the application form and related documents and submitting them to the Jinju City Small Business Owners Association.

A city official said, “This project was promoted to provide direct support to many small business owners facing closure due to worsening management caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We hope this support project will serve as a foundation for resolving the management difficulties of small business owners and revitalizing the local commercial districts.”

Meanwhile, Jinju City previously implemented the Small Business Owner Management Environment Improvement Project and supported about 100 small business owner stores within the jurisdiction.
