Seoul Library and Youth Institutions Targeted 'Dodam Dodam Village School' Contest Dodam Dodam Village School is conducting after-school activities for teenagers through craft activities.

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education is launching the "Dodam Dodam Village School Contest Project" starting in October, which opens village schools outside of regular schools in cooperation with local communities to recover educational deficits caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

In the Seoul area, small libraries, youth institutions, and other facilities with educational capabilities and safe, comfortable activity spaces will be designated and operated as village schools. The application period is until 6 p.m. on the 27th, and the results will be announced on October 5.

This contest project is part of a comprehensive educational recovery plan to overcome emotional, psychological, physical, and social deficits in children and adolescents. Through this contest, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will designate around 50 village institutions and provide local subsidies as operating budgets.

The selected village schools will offer various specialized programs free of charge, tailored to each village institution, including basic academic skills, emotional and psychological support, reading activities, cultural arts, and gap care for students who need learning and care.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education has been operating the Dodam Dodam Village School project since 2020, with 296 schools participating. It runs 51 programs across 25 autonomous districts, including instructor dispatch for remote learning support, mentoring activities with university students, and after-school activities for emotional and psychological recovery.
