Ministry of Gender Equality to Conduct 'Gender Equality Survey' Starting from the 27th

Interview and Internet Survey of 4,500 Households
Results to Be Announced in the First Half of Next Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will conduct the "2021 Gender Equality Survey" from the 27th of this month to October 12th to identify awareness of gender equality and related policy demands.

The Gender Equality Survey is conducted every five years targeting approximately 4,500 households nationwide. The survey is carried out by Statistics Korea, and the Korea Women's Development Institute analyzes the content and will announce the results in the first half of next year.

The survey covers various areas such as family, economic activities, society, health, safety, and time use, focusing on gender equality awareness and levels, family values, social relationships, and gender stereotypes.

It aims to identify changes in family values and gender stereotypes due to the evolving social environment and derive necessary policies for achieving gender equality through questions addressing gender inequality issues that our society needs to resolve.

Interviews are conducted by professional surveyors, and considering the COVID-19 situation, online surveys will be conducted concurrently. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, surveyors strictly follow quarantine management guidelines such as daily self-health checks and social distancing during the survey.

Kim Jongmi, Director of the Women's Policy Bureau, stated, "This survey is to understand changes in public awareness and policy demands over the past five years, and we ask for the active participation of households selected as samples to ensure the smooth progress of the survey."
