‘Midsanong’ Popularity Soars … Sales from January to August Over 5 Times Higher Than Same Period Last Year

"Sold Out Due to High Demand" Gyeongbuk Yeongju Agricultural Specialty Online Shopping Mall Hits Big for Chuseok Gyeongbuk Yeongju City Agricultural Specialty Products Online Shopping Mall Yeongju Jangnal.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The non-face-to-face shopping popularity of ‘Midsanong (trusted agricultural specialty products)’ is “unbelievable.” Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk, hit the jackpot during this Chuseok peak season(?). Some products were so popular that they sold out.

Yeongju City announced on the 22nd that its official agricultural specialty online shopping mall, ‘Yeongju Jangnal,’ achieved sales of 380 million KRW during the 30% discount event held from the 17th of last month to celebrate Chuseok.

This ‘Yeongju Jangnal’ event was the third large-scale online promotion since 2020, organized in response to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 and the expansion of the non-face-to-face consumption market.

It was planned to stabilize the agricultural management of farming households and handling companies and to promote the excellent quality of Yeongju’s agricultural specialty products.

In particular, due to explosive consumer interest in purchasing Chuseok gifts such as apples, ginseng, Korean beef, rice varieties, and traditional Korean sweets, the event, originally scheduled to run until the 30th, ended early.

Notably, among the total 3,652 orders, 2,045 orders came from metropolitan areas including the Seoul metropolitan area, accounting for 56% of all orders.

This is an increase of 586 orders, or 18%, compared to the 1,459 metropolitan area orders during the last Lunar New Year discount event.

Yeongju City views these sales results as evidence of high demand for trusted agricultural specialty products and plans to establish various marketing strategies through consumer analysis in the future.

Jang Wook-hyun, Mayor of Yeongju City, said, “We provided an opportunity to purchase Chuseok gifts at reasonable prices,” and added, “We will continue to create opportunities to promote the excellence of Yeongju’s agricultural specialty products in the online sales market.”

‘Yeongju Jangnal’ achieved sales of 2.2 billion KRW from January to August 2021, which is 5.5 times the 400 million KRW sales during the same period last year, playing a significant role in pioneering the online consumption market for Yeongju’s agricultural specialty products.

Starting in October, Yeongju City plans to hold promotional sales events for ginseng and apples through the Yeongju Jangnal shopping mall during the 2021 Online Gyeongbuk Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Festival and Yeongju Apple Festival.
